I was goofing off on the computer Tuesday morning when my wife stuck her head into the study and asked if I was ready to drive her to work.
Grabbing my coat and hat, I headed for the door, only to discover that Liz had moved to the bathroom, where she was putting on makeup.
"Why did you ask me if I was ready if you aren’t ready?" I said.
"Because I just wanted to see if you were ready," she replied, "and I think that makes perfect sense."
Having been happily married for more than 27 years, I had enough smarts not to pursue the matter further. Silence can be a valuable form of communication, especially when the alternative involves questioning your wife's logic.
