New England's National Historic Landmarks: Maine


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

MAINE
American Eagle (schooner), Rockland

Launched in Gloucester, Mass., in 1930 as a fishing vessel, the American Eagle now serves the tourist trade in Maine and is the last known surviving vessel of her type.
