When a dog experiences spring, the nose knows

From a dog's point of view, the disappearance of mountains of accumulated snow and ice during the springtime melt exposes what has to be an entirely new planet that could not possibly have existed even as recently as last fall. Such scientific inquiry is a very exhaustive process, and it is sure to continue for quite some time as dogs rebuild their olfactory databases.
