New England's National Historic Landmarks: Vermont


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Brown Bridge, Shrewsbury

The Brown Covered Bridge  was built in 1880 by noted Vermont bridgewright Nichols M. Powers. It is recognized as one of the finest examples of a Town lattice truss covered bridge in the United States.
