New England's National Historic Landmarks: New Hampshire


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

NEW HAMPSHIRE
Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, Portsmouth

Wentworth–Coolidge Mansion is a 40-room clapboard house which was built as the home, offices and working farm of colonial Gov. Benning Wentworth (1696-1770). It is one of the few royal governors' residences to survive almost unchanged.
