New England's National Historic Landmarks: Rhode Island


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Bellevue Avenue Historic District, Newport

The Bellevue Avenue Historic District is almost exclusively residential. It includes many of the mansions built by affluent summer vacationers in the city around the turn of the 20th century.
