New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Springfield Armory, Springfield

The Springfield Armory was the primary center for the manufacture of U.S. military firearms from 1777 until its closing in 1968. It was a focal point of Shays' Rebellion in 1787.
