New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

MASSACHUSETTS
Isaac Royal House, Medford

This ca. 1692 house was extensively expanded in the 18th century by merchant and slaveowner Isaac Royall Jr. The property includes the only known surviving slave quarters in the northeastern United States.
