New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

MASSACHUSETTS
Old State House, Boston


This building, constructed in 1712, served as the seat of Massachusetts government until 1793. It was outside this building that the Boston Massacre took place on March 5, 1770.
