New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places  contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Massachusetts State House, Boston


The state capitol was built in the 1790s to a design by Charles Bulfinch, with major additions in the 1890s. The dome was originally sheathed with copper rolled by Paul Revere.
