New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places  contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

MASSACHUSETTS
Hancock-Clarke House, Lexington


This 1737 house was the boyhood home of John Hancock. He and Samuel Adams hid there to evade the British at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1775.
