New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places  contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Gore Place, Waltham


A remnant of an estate that was once much larger, Gore Place preserves a Federalist mansion built in 1806 for Christopher Gore, a Massachusetts governor and United States senator.
