New England's National Historic Landmarks: Maine


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Norridgewock Archeological District


This district encompasses the village of the Norridgewock Abenaki. They were pushed out of the area in a series of conflicts with colonists in the first half of the 18th century.
