The New Yorker covers: October 13, 2003

Humans domesticated horses thousands of years ago, but they didn't appear on the cover of The New Yorker until the 20th century. Which is fitting; the magazine was born in 1925. Horses have graced covers in various guises: realistic, stylized, and comical.
