RHODE ISLAND
Nightingale-Brown House, Providence

The 1791 Nightingale-Brown House is one of the largest surviving wood-frame houses of the 18th century. It was the longtime seat (from 1814 to 1985) of the Brown family: leaders of the city's civic, social, and business community since the 17th century.
