New England's National Historic Landmarks: Rhode Island


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

College Hill Historic District, Providence


This area marks the original settlement of Roger Williams in 1636. The district was designated in 1960 and later expanded to approximately 945 properties, largely from the 18th and 19th centuries.
