New England's National Historic Landmarks: Rhode Island


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

RHODE ISLAND
Cocumscussoc Archaeological Site, Wickford

Smith's Castle, built in 1678, has been designated a National Historic Landmark as Cocumscussoc Archeological Site, due to the artifacts and information that digs in the vicinity have yielded.
