New England's National Historic Landmarks: Rhode Island


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

RHODE ISLAND
Block Island Southeast Light, New Shoreham

Built in 1874, this lighthouse has been described as one of the most architecturally sophisticated lighthouses constructed in the United States in the 19th century.
