New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


he National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

General Rufus Putnam House, Rutland


Rufus Putnam was a Continental Army officer during the Revolutionary War. This house, built in the early 1760s, was his home in the 1780s.
