New England's National Historic Landmarks: Massachusetts


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Frederick Ayer Mansion, Boston

The home of textile businessman Frederick Ayer, its interior is one of the few designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, and its exterior has the only surviving outside mosaic by Tiffany.
