They speak Swedish in Norway, right?

A Maine TV news anchor who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty apologized on the air this morning for mispronouncing the name of a city in Brazil, in connection with a story on the pope's visit to that country. "I didn't take Spanish in high school," she said. That would have been an appropriately gracious explanation, except for the fact that Brazilians don't speak Spanish. They speak Portuguese.
If you're going to apologize for something, it's always a good idea not to screw it up by making yet another mistake, because then you'll have to apologize for the apology.
