Anyone who knows anything
about dogs realizes that they can smile, in their own goofy canine way,
when feeling happy or joyful. Other emotions flit across their furry
little faces from time to time as well, including fear, confusion,
anticipation, serenity, grumpiness, worry and, perhaps, guilt. (I'm not
too sure about that last one, but I'm giving them the benefit of the
doubt.)
Anyway, there's another expression that, fortunately, they don't get to wear too often. Take two dogs out at 5 a.m. when it's 5 below zero with a wind chill of 20 below, as I did last week, and they get a look that can mean only one thing: "What the f---?"
Pit bull/lab mix Martha sports her "this can't be good" look (note the pinned back ears) while preparing to brave the elements under the watchful eye of Maine coon cat Teddy. |
