And now for the latest news . . . via YouTube!

Who needs newspapers - or even the web sites of reputable news organizations - when we’ve got YouTube? The Associated Press reported earlier this week that YouTube “is emerging as a major platform for news, one to which viewers increasingly turn for eyewitness videos in times of major events and natural disasters.”

The story said the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism released a report on Monday on a study that found TV news still “easily outpaces” reliance on YouTube as a news source, but “the video-sharing site is a growing digital environment where professional journalism mingles with citizen content.” And so, without further ado, YouTube brings you the news, thanks to its "citizen content." Viewer discretion is advised.
