New England's National Historic Landmarks: Rhode Island


The National Register of Historic Places contains more than 85,000 sites, but only some 2,500 of them have been listed as National Historic Landmarks. New England is home to hundreds of these particularly significant structures, objects and places.

Isaac Bell House, Newport


The Isaac Bell House is an outstanding example of Shingle Style architecture. It was built during the Gilded Age, when Newport was the summer resort of choice for America's wealthiest families.
