There's good naked, and then there's the other kind

Seinfeld fans may recall the episode in which Jerry finds himself going out with a woman who insists on hanging out naked in his apartment. All the time. Once exposed to non-stop nudity, he quickly decides that there’s good naked and bad naked, and that having a woman parade around the apartment in her birthday suit at all hours of the day and night creates way too many bad-naked visuals.

That came to mind when I read an Associated Press item about one Robert E. Bailey of Cumberland, Rhode Island. (State motto: “We may be the smallest state, but we’re big into weird.”) Bailey, 65, has been placed on probation for a year because he washed his pickup truck in the nude at Economy Car Wash in North Attleborough, Mass., on May 31.

There is a formula for this sort of thing. Please keep it in mind the next time you are tempted to follow Bailey's example. (Yes, the formula does apply even if you're driving a domestic sedan, a spiffy import or an SUV rather than a pickup, so no excuses.) Here it is: driver + nudity + vehicle + car wash + witnesses = bad naked.
